While doing some research on Google's algorithm for ranking pages, I came across this cool little tool. (found on www.rustybrick.com/tools)
Enter your website's URL in the form...the results will tell you your current PR, as well the predicted PR upon Google's next update.

Things that I have found influence PageRank:
- A page that links to your site "votes" to increase your sites ranking. It does this by sharing a percentage of its rank.
- Links to other pages within your site: There is some maximum value you can achieve through internal linking, but this ceiling value is increased as you get more external linking (incoming). Obviously, you can have less than this value if your site navigation isn't very accessible, so make sure that you could get to any page in your site FROM THE FIRST PAGE (well...try to anyways).
- Links from your site to known link farms: Google will penalize your ranking if you have outgoing links to known link farms (sites setup to just contain links, trying to trick google). You cannot be penalized for any site linking to your page (incoming).
